What is the double glazed frameless glass door?

Our fastest selling product, the double glazed frameless glass door system can be used for a variety of domestic and commercial applications. Surpassing all UK building regulations for external use, it is a great alternative to the traditional bulky framed uPVC and aluminium door systems. Widely used as a house patio door, it offers completely clear glass views, coupled with the benefit of being fully retractable at the user’s discretion. For ease of use, every frameless door comes with an access door as standard. So for daily tasks such as entering or exiting your garden, you can simply use the access door. Then when you feel you would like to completely open the door, simply fold and slide each panel to one side, which can be easily done within just a few minutes. We design, manufacture and install all of our glass folding doors so that you don’t have to worry about anything. All of our glass patio doors are completely custom-built to match the exact measurements of your particular opening.

We developed one of the original aluminium bifolding door systems in 2003, and since then have been designing and testing different door systems so we can stay at the pinnacle of glass door technology. In 2009 we then developed the glass folding door, which comprises large glass panels and a unique compression locking system for added security and weather protection. The industry knows that customers demand large glass doors for better visibility and a modern look, which is why we developed our innovative new range of exterior glass doors.

Thermal Efficiency and Weather Protection

All of our double glazed glass patio doors utilise our unique weather protection and Schlegal compression locking systems. This is how we reach a thermal efficiency rating (U-value) of less than 1.6 W/m²K. Glass has a much higher thermal efficiency rating compared to aluminium, hence why we can reach such a low U-value rating. This means that our glass doors can be used all year round, regardless of any weather conditions.

How Do They Work?

Each panel is held in place by the bottom and top thermally broken aluminium rails. The first stage to open the frameless glass door is to open the access panel so it is on one side of the rail at a 45-degree angle. The next panel can then be slid along the rail to meet the access panel, and then opened to a 45-degree angle. The same process is followed for all the other panels until every panel is on one side of the door system, with every panel stacked at a 45 degree angle. Your exterior glass door is now completely open as if it never existed!

Using our leading weather protection system, our doors will withstand a variety of weather conditions, and therefore are suitable for any location in the UK. They are 100% waterproof and we also offer a complete manufacturer’s warranty for peace of mind. The use of our frameless door is similar to a folding sliding door system, but cannot be compared as they rely on thick and bulky frames to support each panel.
